HENRY OMAGA DIAZ'S FOND FAREWELL ON BANDILA

Last night was a very sad day for the staff and crew of the ABS-CBN's late-night newscast Bandila, as its anchor Henry Omaga-Diaz bids a fond farewell to the newscast he anchored for more than 4 years.

Co-anchor Ces Drilon last night tweeted,
"I will miss @HenryOmagaDiaz! I too learned a lot from him. But as he said, this is not goodbye."
.

Netizens shared her sentiments as number of tweets are flooding over Twitter praising the man who made Bandila the competitive newscast it is today.

Even TV5 anchor Jove Francisco took his time to tweet, "All the best, Henry Omaga Diaz, all the best"

Omaga-Diaz was among the original anchors of Bandila along with Ces Oreña-Drilon and Korina Sanchez until the latter left in 2009 to campaign for her husband Mar Roxas, who was then running for Vice President. He will be replaced by Julius Babao and Karen Davila beginning Monday joining Ces Oreña-Drilon on the broadcast.

Under Omaga Diaz and Drilon, the newscast became a tough competitor in the late-night news race and became a serious threat to the GMA-7 newscast Saksi. It even won the Best News Program awards at the 16th KBP Golden Dove Awards and on the 21st Star Awards for TV. The newscast also earned the Philippines its first ever nomination for an International Emmy Award for their report in the Subic Rape Case Promulgation, as well as an Asian Television Awards for Best Newscast in 2007.

Omaga Diaz who was one of the recipients of Ten Outstanding Media Personalities by International Media Associates Inc. is expected to be reassigned at the network.
